Black Label Society is an American heavy metal band with elements of Southern metal. Based in Los Angeles, the band was formed in 1998 by guitarist Zakk Wylde, known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne. The name comes from the musician's love of Black Label whiskey. Their debut album, Sonic Brew, was released in Japan in October 1998 and internationally in May 1999. Initially conceived as a solo effort by Wylde, the project quickly evolved into a full-fledged band. In 2005, the band signed with Artemis Records and released the album Mafia. In 2006, the band left Artemis Records and signed with Roadrunner Records, releasing the album Shot to Hell. In 2021, they released their eleventh studio album, Doom Crew Inc.
